Saturday inspiration; Tim Walker!

I love Tim Walker! He is mostly a fashion photografer but have done lots of shots for Casa Vogue as well. He builds fantasy worlds that are simply fantastic, sad and romantic at the same time. Enjoy!

Quilt!

As I wrote yesterday, handicraft is getting more status and suddenly it's not just something your grandmother is doing. Both quilting and embroidery is something that is close to my heart, I've always been fascinated of it, and the time it takes to make it. I've just finished my first quilt, a bedspread. I don't know how good the outcome is, but I like the colors of it at least! Have a look:

In a world of speed, slow motion is the new beauty...

I went to a trend presentation today that really made me think about how we live. All the speakers were talking about speed and technology. They were talking about that today we live in an online reality, we are always accessible. So todays luxury is integrity and slowness, to enjoy the quality in handmade products and  appreciate the time it takes to make them. I couldn't agree more. For me luxury is to find that special thing that is unique and has it's own story to tell, that is made with craftmenship and passion. I also like the concept of unplugging; to spend time in silence and on places where mobile phones doesn't work. For me, my home is my place to find recovery from the busy world outside, but our apartment is a little bit to small to create a silent space where you can just sit back and look out the window and think. My dream is to have a small house, maybe a cabin in the woods close to the water where I can just be, to find inspiration and new ideas...

Below you find some of my favorite quiet places:

Embroidery is back!

Embroidery is back! Especially "petit point" embroideries with flowers, preferably antique ones. I bought the latest number of the magazine "Antik världen" and they had an full article just about embroidered cushions. I found one cushion for my self this weekend in Nora from the 1940s and today I bought one from the1890s at "Old touch" in Stockholm. This one has pearls embroidered on to it, absolutely beautiful! I would like to have an old chair or even a sofa filled with embroideries, but for now I think I have to be satisfied with the cushions, will look lovely on our bed!

The article in "Antik världen"

Flee market weekend

This weekend we went to the west midland of Sweden; Bergslagen, for some vintage shopping. It proved to be an area filled with flee markets and antique shops. Especially in the beautiful town of Nora we did a lot of bargains. The only thing we regret is not bringing a trailer with us, there was a lot of furniture...

Hera are the links to some of the places we went to:

After visiting Pershyttan, we continued to Storå, where we unfortunately missed the opening ours of "Guldsmedshyttans antik". Judging by the windows it looked amazing! Instead we headed for "Loppis i Larsbo" where Frida bought a fantastic charming old school desk.
